About Us

Gordon Gilkes
Director of the Dance Studio

Gordon’s extensive experience and knowledge of over 35 years of dancing has helped him create the fantastic team of teachers that are now available to teach you how to dance.
Gordon represented Australia in the final of the1995 World Grand Prix. Other competitive dancing achievements include 17th in the World Ballroom Championships, 6 times South Pacific Champion, Australian and Australasia Champion. Gordon also performed on dancing with the Stars with Olympic Legend DAWN FRASER.
Gordon is qualified at Licentiate level with FATD, ADS, ANDA and BDA dance associations. Currently still competing with students in international Pro-Am competitions.

Sherrie McGrath
Principal Latin Teacher

Sherrie is our principal teacher in Latin and voted Teacher of the Year 2009 and 2010 for her outstanding dedication, she brings a warm and patient understanding to the beginners latin classes.

Yuuka Kono

Yuuka is a professional Latin dancer from Japan who has successfully competed at a national and international level throughout the Asia-Pacific region and has represented her country at such events as the British Championships in the U.K.
Now living here in Sydney, Yuuka’s passion for dance along with her caring nature have made her one of our most popular teachers at the studio.
Yuuka is also very experienced at teaching standard ballroom, bridal dance choreography and is responsible for running our kids and teens program.

Susan Williams

Susan has been ballroom dancing for 29 years, and teaching for the past 21 years. She teaches social dancers, bridal couples and medal test students. For the past 10 years Susan’s main focus has been creating personally tailored wedding choreography for the more than 500 bridal couples she has taught in that time. She particularly enjoys the challenge of turning non-dancers into dancers in a relatively short space of time.
Her dance background includes a brief amateur competitive career in Latin American, as well as time in the dance corps in amateur musical theatre productions, and three years of ballet training.
Qualifications; Associate level, Dance Sport Australia and British Dance Association

Marianne Dawson

Marianne is a professional Latin dancer with over 9 years experience performing, competing and teaching Latin dancing.
Over the past 6 years she has successfully competed both nationally and internationally winning numerous titles. Nationally, she has won the Amateur, Semi-Pro and Professional divisions in Salsa couples and Salsa and Bachata teams and is five times Australia Bachata Team Champion.
Internationally, she has represented Australia at the World Latin Dance Cup, placing 1st in both the Salsa Ladies Shines in 2012 and Bachata teams categories in 2013. In 2014, she placed 3rd in Ladies Shines Team and in the top 5 Salsa teams (non-cabaret).
Marianne is very passionate about teaching and brings an enthusiastic energy and sense of fun to all her classes.
